If you don't love God, you don't need a Val because how can you genuinely love a human being if you haven't first loved THE ONE who created, epitomizes, symbolizes and first demonstrated what the true definition of love is. (2016)
Let me tell you about your first love, the one you should celebrate
every valentine season; and every fleeting second of your life!!! This you
ought to do rather than let yourself be taken aback or blown away, nor give yourself to sexual
pleasures because of teddy bears, and all manners of material gifts.
You remember the story of the thief in John 10:10 who comes
to kill, steal and destroy. He is full of deceitful and enticing words. He comes with a masked intention, not plain
and straight forward. He weakens you with the pleasures of this world and much
more.
Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying you should not celebrate
yourself on this special day. The truth is, on this day, many give themselves
cheaply for an exchange of material things; and some for nothing at all. In this same vein, the thief wants to steal
our eternal life from our first love by trying to throw the world at us.
I want you to remember what your first love says, that you
are in this world but not of this world. What that means is that you should not
be carried away by the allure and “attractiveness” that exists in the world.
This is because there is something better and greater that awaits you.
So also, I plead with you that as beautiful as love is, none
can compare to that of your first love who decided to be bruised, wounded, beaten
and chastised for you. Even though you have decided not to give Him your attention. He
still calls out to you daily not because of his selfish interest, but out of a selfless
love.
When you felt you had no need for Him, He gave himself in
advance to die for your sins and rose for your justification; and all He asks
in return is your heart! He will not blow, wound, crush or use you; nor will He
leverage to control you, but to construct you and shape you to be the best that
you can be for Him, and in Him.
I ask you this question, which is better? I’m certain you know the answer. That said, there
are two playbooks that shape the hearts and minds of man. There is One that
showers you with love without entertaining the thought propelled and influenced
by the lusts of the flesh. The One that values, honours, cherishes your worth;
the God-influenced kind of love.
There is another with an ulterior motive; showers you with “love”, affection and material gifts. I call this the hidden agenda kind of love. The intents behind this is unclean, unreal and ungodly with the aim of defying your body.

Whatever God ordained is good, so I am not saying sex is bad;
however, God ordained sexual pleasures to be enjoyed only within marriage. It is
a fellowship designed creatively to be enjoyed between a man and his lawful wife
because it is a covenant that is bound by blood.
That said, for the unmarried, what is your body worth? Is your
body invaluable, priceless and full of virtue? Or your body is such that
belongs to the highest bidder? A big love-shaped teddy bear, a movie date with
popcorn and the rest of them?
Do not be deceived. Your first love has put a price on you;
the price sealed with his own blood just like the covenant of marriage which
gives you the access to enjoy the blessedness and blessings that comes from
enjoying sexual pleasures on an un-defiled bed.
Are you single? Unmarried? And you feel that you feel the
need to mesh with another body today cause of the raging and uncontrollable
urge flowing through your bloodstream. I want you to understand that you are
not alone in the fight.
Remember what your first love says that He will never leave
you nor forsake you; this is a promise to you and He has instructed us that we
should present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto him. (Romans
12:1)
I plead with you, do not give yourself to the defilement of
sexual sin today, or any other day because ye are of God and have overcome. Remember,
greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world. (1 John 4:4)
Peradventure you have given yourself to the pleasures of
sexual sin at one time or the other, your first love is compassionate and
forgiving. If you sincerely repent and forsake your sins, He will forget all
that you have done in the past and you will become a new creature before Him (2
Corinthians 5:17)
Therefore, I plead with you not to be carried away by the temptations that are flooding the atmosphere on a day like this because you are more than a conqueror through your first love that strengthens you. Do not be deceived, you are worth the wait no matter how long it takes.
