For Five Years

For five years, You taught me patience, You taught me waiting, You taught me persistence. For five years, You taught me calm, You taught me courage, You taught me relentlessness. For five years, You taught me strength, You taught me trust, You taught me hope, For five years, I held on to the one Who has every capacity To handle battles of life. Now it's time, The battle is over, The siege is over, The war is over, The trials is over, The waiting is over. Now it's time, After five beautiful years Of holding on to manifestation For me to show you All the love I have preserved for you. Which I have spent time To culture over and over again. Now you are finally here, I can hold you And wrap you in my arms Cause the wait is over. For five years, I closed the door On hopelessness and disappointment Finally my faith is rewarded. Thank you Jesus For the beautiful princess You finally sent down to earth At your own appointed...

Don't keep your faith locked in a draft folder

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not yet seen                                      ( Hebrews 11:1) What is the exact definition of faith? Is it just a word that seems to come to our minds willy nilly. Here is an illustration: ' Tunde, with your GPA, the professor said you can't graduate this year' ' Femi, I have faith I will' The word 'Faith' is not like any other word in the English dictionary that we use; it is a process where you action the manifestations of your expectations. Faith cannot manifest when you keep your expectations in a draft folder. For so long, Titi had always desired to get a very beautiful diamond necklace from her uncle. She we...

MOVIE REVIEW: ACRIMONY

The first thoughts that came to mind when I watched Tyler Perry’s Acrimony was never judge a book by its cover, never give up on your dreams, if it hasn’t happened, it doesn’t mean that it won’t; it is never too late, it is never too early, whenever it comes to pass, as long as it is not outdated, it is the right time.   What is love without sacrifice or what is sacrifice without love? There are so many things involved in this four letter word many seem to throw around with reckless abandon. It is not a code that unlocks the ‘jackpot’ of a woman’s body or the wallets of man. It is the totality of releasing ourselves to the beautiful symphonic orchestral tune that makes our body float on water. There is a truth which is the only truth there is. Love doesn’t abhor a person no matter the situation that might have befallen such a person in the past; it is the totality of forgiveness without holding on to the draining residue of the past. The first thoughts that came to ...

Burning Coles (Pt. 2) - Emmanuela Evbuoma

‘My leg my leg’ Seyi who now was sitting on the floor cried. ‘Oh my God’ Mrs Cole exclaimed as she saw the oil stain on her daughter’s sky blue jean trousers. She quickly turned off the gas cooker and helped Seyi remove her trouser as she called on top of her voice to Mr Cole, who was hearing all that was going on but showed no interest. Mr Cole staggered into the kitchen ‘what is it? Why you shouting my name like they are chasing you?’ he asked, obviously drunk. ‘Hot oil poured on your daughter’s thighs and that’s all you can say?’ she asked as she poured cool water on Seyi’s thighs. ‘So what do you now want me to do?’ he asked annoyingly ‘better take her to the hospital and don’t disturb me’ he said and turned around to leave. ‘Ha is that all you have to say?’ Mrs Cole was fed up of her husband’s lackadaisical attitude. She lifted Seyi up from the floor and supported her as they walked out of the kitchen to the main door. She shouted on top of her voice ‘Bimbo b...
