MOVIE REVIEW: COUNTDOWN

In the purview of human existence it is imperative to look for a reflection to the journey that is about to be undertaken. It serves as the compass which guides our path and shape our mindsets towards making decisions or taking steps that will not have negative consequences on our life, destiny and purpose. Countdown by Adeola Jerry Oluwagbemi is not just a movie, It is an existentialist spiritual movie which captures the reality of life. It lays siege on the root cause of the malaises that befall corps members when they find themselves in a strange environment for their service year.  This movie exposes the desire of many to give room to sexual pleasures, lusts of the flesh and the pride of life all in the name of freewill and choice; it is a call to order through its high sense of deep spiritual revelatory message. POETRY: Forgive My Unfaithfulness - Obinna Chinedu

Forgive my unfaithfulness; My over privileged attitude My sense of over-entitlement Quickly forgetting the things you’ve done for me. From the sacrifices you made To the pains you went through The suffering, The stigma, To the times I turned my back to you. From hurting you over again To stabbing you by your side; Reopening the scars Yet you still remained Patiently guiding my path. When I fall, you pick me up, Dust me off, Forsaking my ungratefulness; You stayed by my side To remind me of your sufficient grace. Your arms spread open Inviting me to fellowship with you. In your presence, I find peace. Left blinded by your grace Your awesome grace. Wisdom Arinze is a graduate of Communication and performing Arts from Bowen University. POETRY: The Speaking Blood

I have been initiated Into the heavens court Where I need no flogging To be part of the brotherhood. What powerful blood Which quenches my thirst Of the lusts of this world And the worldly desires Which leads to destruction. I love this blood It comes alive to me And permeates my life Fills my inner spirit Overshadows my outer man. What a blood So powerful and mighty With a whirlwind effect On the kingdom of darkness. The blood that speaks The blood that heals The blood that delivers The blood that saves It crushes chains It breaks yokes And crunches shackles Without any effort. What a blood That drives the kingdom of darkness Into a spate of rage Which lacks venom and bite. I reverence the efficacy Of this wonderful blood Which renders the devil In a vegetative state. turning the accuser of brethren To a mere spectator To the finished work and victory The blood gifted us on the cross.
